Summary

Dante and Virgil now approaches a creature that has a face of a human, body type of a reptile, scorpion's tail and two hairy paws that goes by the name Greyon. They are still in the seventh circle but in the third zone of this third circle ring. Virgil stops to talk with the creature while sending Dante on to learn more about those who were violent against art. Dante figures that they are unwilling to talk so he returns to Virgil. During the pass time when Dante wasn’t with Virgil he was talking to the human headed monster about transporting them to the 8^th circle of hell. The creature will do so Dante and Virgil loads up on Greyon back while he takes them to the eighth circle of hell.

       Punishment/Contrapasso

       There isn’t a contrapasso but the creature Greyon do show some symbolism. He is symbolic of dishonesty and fraud and he also traces back to the leopard in canto I.
