College Essay
I felt myself getting dizzy as the smell of the freshly cut grass hit my nostrils. Despite the fact that I had been playing football for 9 years, this practice was by far the most arduous. As my coach shouted out commands, all I could think about was my hunger consuming me. It was 12 noon in July, with a high of 90 degrees, and I had not eaten all morning. The heat and fatigue made giving up and walking off the field very enticing; however, my competitive drive wouldn’t allow me to quit.                                                                                                                    Football has made me a very driven, steadfast, and assiduous young man, which are traits I exemplify on and off the field. The same drive and dedication I utilize to run sprints and train every day, also transitions to my studies. I once read a quote by Thomas Jefferson that said, “Nothing can stop a man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude”. This quote is substantial to me because the importance of education was instilled in me at a young age.                                                        My mom and other positive role models always told me the importance of hard-work and dedication. If you have your mind set on a goal, the number one obstacle is yourself. It is easy to say you’re going to run a marathon, but the difficult part is getting up and training. The same applies to all aspects of life. Football has also taught me how to standout from others. On a football field there are lazy but talented athletes and there’re players that really take the sport serious and go 100% every play. Id likes to say I’m one of those people.
Also having the pleasure of participating in several programs and organizations, such as Every Kid Outreach, boys and girls club and Young Life that molded me into the determined, industrious, and steadfast young man I am today. Boys and Girls Club played an important role over the past several years.  It also provided me with tutoring in all my core classes, it also help me build character, which is one of the most important pieces to a young student athlete and being a good person put me in the position I am in now.
